Best Photo Cleaner Apps for iPhone in 2026
We compared seven photo cleaner apps on the US App Store: ratings, free limits, plan prices, ads and privacy labels. Here is what each one does well.
Disclosure: Swipe44 is our app. We built this comparison honestly, including areas where competitors have advantages. Ratings and pricing are from the US App Store as of September 2026.
Quick answer
There is no single winner here. Cleanup: Phone Storage Cleaner is the most rated of the seven, 713,800 US ratings, and it stretches well past photos into email, contacts and a PIN vault. Swipewipe: Photo Cleaner has the highest rating of any competitor on this page at 4.69, and its month-by-month swipe flow is the closest thing to ours. Cleaner Kit - Clean Up Storage is the only one whose listing says anything at all about what the free version can do. It has also shipped a release every month since October 2025. AI Cleaner: Clean Up Storage and Cleaner Guru: Clean Up Storage both build around a one-tap duplicate scan and reach into contacts and the inbox; AI Cleaner also covers calendar events. Cleaner Neat: Clean Up Storage lists the cheapest plans of the group and 28 languages, more than anything else here. Swipe44, sold on the App Store as Photo Cleaner - Swipe44, is the newest by a wide margin: no ads, no account, 6 US ratings, and a listing first published in 2026.

The apps
1. Swipe44
Swipe44 Our Pick
Swipe44 is listed on the App Store as Photo Cleaner - Swipe44, by EHM TECH LLC. You swipe right to keep and left to delete, working through decks: Recents for the whole library newest first, Shuffle, By Month, and By Week, which splits each month into its weeks. Every deck resumes where you stopped, and each photo is reviewed once and then filtered out of future decks. Marked photos wait in a pending pile you can review, then the whole pile goes in one confirmation. You can undo your last swipe, restore any photo before you commit, and anything removed lands in the system recently deleted album. The app also scans for duplicate and near-identical photos on the device. Look-alikes are grouped side by side, with the newest suggested as the keeper.
The listing shows each photo’s size on the card, a lifetime tally of storage reclaimed, an insights dashboard with photos deleted, sessions, daily streaks and weekly activity, and a bookmark list for photos you want to decide on later. Cloud-stored originals are never downloaded; the app works from thumbnails and photo details. It is free to download, with a Pro subscription in the in-app purchase list. What Pro unlocks is not written on our own store page. That one is on us.
Pros
- No ads and no account, both stated plainly on the listing, and a privacy label with no data used to track you
- Swipe decks that resume where you left off, with each photo shown only once
- A pending pile, an undo, and a restore step before anything is committed
- iCloud originals are never downloaded during a session
Cons
- 6 US ratings and a first release in 2026, against competitors with six-figure rating counts and up to nine years on the store
- The listing does not say what the free version covers or what Pro adds
- English only, against 12 to 28 languages elsewhere on this page
- The description names photos only. No video, email, contacts or vault features are listed
Pricing: Free to download. Pro is $29.99 a year, with a one-time $19.99 introductory offer, or $2.99 a week, after a 7-day free trial.
Best for: clearing a camera roll by swiping, on a phone where you do not want ads, an account, or your iCloud originals pulled down.
2. Cleanup: Phone Storage Cleaner by DEEP FLOW SOFTWARE SERVICES - FZCO
Cleanup: Phone Storage Cleaner
The developer writes the name as Cleanup, one word. It is the most rated app on the page by a distance: 4.65 from 713,800 US ratings, on the App Store since 2020. It detects and deletes duplicate photos, groups similar photos with the best one marked, finds screenshots for bulk deletion, removes large lookalike videos, and compresses large files. After each session it shows a final review screen so you can double-check the selections before anything goes.
It goes well beyond the camera roll. There is an email cleaner for promo, spam and unread mail, a contacts tool that merges duplicates and strips incomplete entries, a PIN-protected vault, battery and storage widgets, and charging animations. The listing does not state what the free version can do. Its weekly plan is listed five separate times at five different prices, from $5.95 to $11.99, with a single annual entry at $29.99 and a 7-day trial described in the text. The description promises that no files leave your phone, while the privacy label declares Purchase History, User ID, Device ID and Product Interaction used to track you.
Pros
- The most rated app here, 4.65 across 713,800 US ratings
- The broadest toolkit on this page: photos, videos, email, contacts, vault and widgets
- Reviewers say the cleanup is fast and easy to get through, 87 of 500 sampled reviews
- Reviewers say it finds duplicates and near-duplicates well, 23 of 500
Cons
- Five different weekly prices under one name, with no way to tell which one you will be shown
- In an August to September 2026 review sample, 18 of 500 reviewers described the free version stopping at about five photo deletions a day, usually after selecting far more
- In the same sample, 26 of 500 raised disputed charges, cancellations that did not stop billing, or refused refunds
- The privacy label contradicts the description’s privacy claims
- No iPad app: the listing is iPhone only
Pricing: Free to download. Weekly entries run $5.95 to $11.99, with one annual entry at $29.99 and a 7-day trial per its description.
Best for: someone who wants one app to handle photos, videos, mail and contacts, and who will pick an annual plan rather than a weekly one.

3. Cleaner Kit - Clean Up Storage by BP Mobile LLC
Cleaner Kit - Clean Up Storage
Cleaner Kit has been on the App Store since 2017, which makes it the oldest app here, and it is also the busiest: it has shipped a release in every month from October 2025 through September 2026. It has swipe sorting, right to keep and left to delete, and it groups photos by time period first so you work through a month at a time. Its scan looks for duplicates, blurry shots and useless screenshots, and it can convert Live Photos into stills to save space, a feature added in August 2026.
The rest of the feature list has grown mostly through release notes rather than the description: storage insights showing which categories eat the most space, lifetime cleanup statistics, access to your Photos albums, a This Day Past Years deck, and Siri Shortcuts for voice-driven cleanup. There is also bulk email cleanup, contacts merging, a secret folder locked with Face ID or a passcode, and accessibility options including large fonts and a high-contrast interface. It is the only app here whose listing describes a free tier: essential cleanup tools at no cost, with optional upgrades. The seven in-app purchase entries run $4.99 to $6.99. None of them shows a billing period, though the description says billing is weekly or annual.
Pros
- The only listing on this page that says anything about what is free
- Swipe sorting plus time-period grouping, so you are not scrolling one giant list
- Updated every month since October 2025, with real feature notes rather than boilerplate
- Accessibility extras: large fonts and a high-contrast interface
Cons
- Seven purchase entries with no billing period attached, so the store page never says what a price actually buys
- Reviewers say a paywall blocks the app on first open
- Its age rating is annotated Contains Advertising, while its Play listing says no ads
- A privacy label declaring Purchases, Location, Identifiers, Usage Data, Diagnostics and Other Data used to track you, beside a description that says nothing is uploaded or shared
- iPhone only, and we could not confirm the publisher of the similarly named Play listing
Pricing: Free to download. In-app purchases run $4.99 to $6.99, billed weekly or annually per its description; the store page does not say what each price covers.
Best for: someone who wants swipe sorting with a much deeper toolbox behind it, and who reads the subscription screen carefully before tapping.

4. AI Cleaner: Clean Up Storage by GRIMLAX TRADE,S.L.
AI Cleaner: Clean Up Storage
AI Cleaner has been on the App Store since 2023 and rates 4.58 from 208,394 US ratings. Its swipe cleaner works the same way ours does, right to keep and left to delete, and sits next to a scan that finds duplicate photos and videos for one-tap removal. Compression comes in high, medium and low settings, and a comprehensive clean runs every function at once.
Outside the camera roll it adds a private space for photos, videos and contacts, contact list cleanup, removal of old calendar events, and an email cleaner that deletes unwanted mail and unsubscribes from spam lists. February 2026 added Email Check, which tells you whether your address has turned up in a data breach. Pricing is weekly-first: three weekly price points at $6.99, $9.99 and $10.99, two annual entries at $34.99 and $39.99, no monthly plan, and trial lengths in the purchase names that say three days on some entries and seven on others.
Pros
- Swipe deck and a duplicate scan in the same app, 4.58 across 208,394 ratings
- Reaches into calendar, contacts and inbox as well as photos
- An email breach check, which nothing else here offers
- Three compression levels to choose from
Cons
- Three weekly prices and two annual prices, with nothing saying which is standard
- Reviewers say the app is paywalled before you can use it, 69 of 500 sampled reviews
- Reviewers report being charged during or after a trial, 57 of 500
- Its age rating is annotated Contains Advertising
- The listing never says what the free download can do, or what a subscription unlocks
Pricing: Free to download. Weekly at $6.99, $9.99 or $10.99; annual at $34.99 or $39.99. A 3-day or 7-day trial depending on the plan, per its purchase names.
Best for: someone who wants swiping plus calendar, contacts and inbox cleanup in one app, and who checks the price on the paywall screen before subscribing.

5. Cleaner Guru: Clean Up Storage by GM UniverseApps Limited
Cleaner Guru: Clean Up Storage
Cleaner Guru is built around a scan rather than a swipe deck. Its scan runs across the whole library, finds every duplicate and similar photo, marks the best shot in each group, and lets you delete the rest in one tap. Nothing goes without your approval: the listing says you preview every file before it is removed. It has been on the App Store since 2019 and rates 4.52 from 148,600 US ratings, in 17 languages.
Then there is video compression, an email cleaner that works with Gmail and unsubscribes from spam lists in one tap, automatic merging of duplicate contacts, and a password-protected secret folder. The listing says the app works completely offline with all processing local to the device, which sits awkwardly next to a privacy label declaring Purchases, Identifiers and Usage Data used to track you, and Contacts, Contact Info, User Content and Location linked to your identity. Its eight purchase entries carry two names, Premium and Unlimited Access, and not one of them shows a billing period.
Pros
- Strong one-pass workflow: scan, best shot marked, delete the rest in a tap
- Every file is previewed before removal, per its listing
- 17 languages, and reviewers say it made a large duplicate pile manageable
- Reviewers say it freed real storage
Cons
- Eight purchase entries under two names, none with a billing period, so no price on the store page can be read as weekly or yearly
- Reviewers say they expected free and were charged, and that the delete step is paywalled after the scan
- Its age rating is annotated Contains Advertising
- The offline and no-tracking claims in the description conflict with the privacy label
- iPhone only, no iPad, and no confirmed Android version: the Play listing under this name is published by a different developer
Pricing: Free to download. Premium is listed at $4.99, $6.99, $7.99, $8.99, $9.99 and $39.99, and Unlimited Access at $5.99 and $7.99. The store page does not say what period any of those prices cover.
Best for: someone with a huge duplicate pile who wants one scan and one tap rather than thousands of swipes, and who will check the exact price and period on the purchase screen.

6. Cleaner Neat: Clean Up Storage by Smart Tool Studio
Cleaner Neat: Clean Up Storage Best Value
Cleaner Neat gets the value pick because its price list is the most complete and the cheapest on this page. It is the only app here that lists a monthly plan, $9.99, alongside weekly entries from $1.99, an annual at $29.99, two $39.99 entries with no billing period shown, and a $59.99 lifetime entry, the only lifetime-style purchase in the group. One quirk: the description calls the product Phone Cleaner in its subscription terms and never uses the words Cleaner Neat. Check the developer name, Smart Tool Studio, when you search for it.
The cleanup itself covers duplicate photos, similar photos, screenshots, burst photos and Live Photos, with smart grouping to help you choose what to keep and a review step before anything is removed. It also analyses what is taking up space before you delete, cleans and compresses videos and finds similar ones, and merges duplicate contacts. An email cleaner arrived in May 2026 and AI photo enhancement in December 2025. There is a PIN-protected vault, charging animations, and built-in cleaning tips. At 28 languages it is the most widely localised app on this page, and it runs on iPad as well as iPhone.
Pros
- The cheapest and most complete price list here: weekly from $1.99, $9.99 a month, $29.99 a year, two $39.99 entries with no billing period shown and a $59.99 lifetime entry
- The only app on this page with a monthly plan, and the only one with a one-off lifetime entry
- 28 languages, more than anything else here, and iPad support
- Detects burst photos and Live Photos as well as duplicates and screenshots
Cons
- Reviewers say deletion is paywalled after the scan
- Reviewers report the contacts merge deleting contacts instead of merging them
- Reviewers describe deletion gated behind rewarded video ads in batches of roughly 20 items, and its age rating is annotated Contains Advertising
- One weekly product name is listed at four different prices, so no single weekly figure is reliable
- The listing states no trial length, and its privacy label declares Location, Browsing History, Identifiers and Usage Data used to track you
- No Android version was found
Pricing: Free to download. Weekly $1.99 to $6.99, $9.99 a month, $29.99 a year, with two $39.99 entries and a $59.99 lifetime entry also listed.
Best for: someone who wants the widest set of purchase options, a non-English interface, or an iPad app, and who is willing to work through the ad-supported flow.

7. Swipewipe: Photo Cleaner by MWM
Swipewipe: Photo Cleaner Top Rated
Swipewipe has the highest rating of any competitor on this page, 4.69 from 91,800 US ratings, which is why the top-rated badge goes to it and not to Cleanup, the most-rated app here. It is the closest competitor to how Swipe44 works: the same swipe, right to keep and left to delete, going month by month through the library. It also spots similar photos, blurry shots and old screenshots, and it can improve old or low-quality photos with AI enhancement.
The app leans into the nostalgia side more than any other here. An On This Day feature and a home screen widget serve up old photos daily, a world map shows where your photos were taken, streaks keep you coming back, and a Decide Later bookmark holds anything you are not sure about. Its description says nothing about money at all: no free tier, no trial, no limits, no mention of Premium, even though the age rating is annotated Contains Advertising and there are eight purchase entries. It needs iOS 18 or later, the highest requirement on this page.
Pros
- The highest-rated competitor here, 4.69 across 91,800 US ratings
- Month-by-month swiping, a Decide Later bookmark and streaks, the closest flow to ours
- A world map of where your photos were taken, which nothing else on this page offers, plus On This Day and a home screen widget
- Reviewers are broadly positive, and dozens say it freed real storage
Cons
- Reviewers say the ads are intrusive or unskippable, and a separate group says they got worse after a recent update
- Reviewers describe a daily limit on the free version with an 8-hour cooldown
- Reviewers say the subscription costs too much
- Requires iOS 18, which rules out older phones
- Weekly entries range $3.99 to $9.99 under three names, so no single weekly price is reliable
Pricing: Free to download. Weekly entries run $3.99 to $9.99, with one annual entry at $29.99. Reviewers describe a three-day trial; the listing does not state one.
Best for: someone who likes the swipe-and-streaks approach, wants the On This Day and memory-map extras, and is on iOS 18 with an appetite for ads on the free tier.

Which one should you pick?
Pick Swipe44 if you want to swipe through your camera roll with no ads, no account and no iCloud downloads, and you do not mind that the app is new and English only.
Pick Cleanup: Phone Storage Cleaner if you want one app for photos, videos, email and contacts, and the largest rating base here matters to you more than a swipe deck.
Pick Cleaner Kit - Clean Up Storage if you want swipe sorting on top of the deepest toolbox on this page, and you value an app that has shipped an update every month since October 2025.
Pick AI Cleaner: Clean Up Storage if you also want old calendar events, duplicate contacts and a cluttered inbox dealt with, plus a breach check on your email address.
Pick Cleaner Guru: Clean Up Storage if your duplicate pile is enormous and you would rather run one scan, check the marked best shots and delete the rest in a tap.
Pick Cleaner Neat: Clean Up Storage if you want the cheapest or the most flexible plan, need a language other than English, or want it on an iPad.
Pick Swipewipe: Photo Cleaner if you want month-by-month swiping with streaks, widgets and On This Day, you are on iOS 18, and the ads and the daily limit reviewers describe are an acceptable trade.
Before you install anything, it helps to know what you are up against. Our free camera roll cleanup estimator tells you roughly how long a full sweep will take, and the duplicate photo space calculator shows how many gigabytes your duplicates are likely holding. Both run in the browser, with no download and no account.
Frequently asked questions
What is the best photo cleaner app for iPhone?
It depends on what you need. Cleanup: Phone Storage Cleaner is the most rated of the seven at 713,800 US ratings and carries the widest toolkit. Swipewipe: Photo Cleaner has the highest rating of any competitor here at 4.69. Cleaner Neat: Clean Up Storage lists the lowest prices and 28 languages. Swipe44 is our own app and the only one of the seven whose listing states no ads and no account, though it has 6 US ratings since its 2026 release.
Which photo cleaner apps are actually free?
All seven are free to download, and only one says what that gets you. Cleaner Kit - Clean Up Storage says essential cleanup tools are free with optional upgrades. The other six listings, Swipe44 included, do not spell out a free tier at all. Reviewers of Cleanup, Cleaner Guru, Cleaner Neat and Swipewipe describe daily deletion caps or a paywall that appears after the scan finishes.
Which photo cleaner apps let you swipe to keep or delete?
Four of the seven state it on their store page: Swipe44, Cleaner Kit - Clean Up Storage, AI Cleaner: Clean Up Storage and Swipewipe: Photo Cleaner. Cleanup: Phone Storage Cleaner, Cleaner Guru: Clean Up Storage and Cleaner Neat: Clean Up Storage do not mention swiping anywhere in their listings.
Do any of these work without an account?
Only Swipe44 states plainly that no account is required. The other six listings do not say either way. Cleanup, Cleaner Kit and Cleaner Guru each say their cleanup runs locally or offline, but all three also carry a privacy label declaring data used to track you across other companies' apps and websites, so read the label next to the claim.
Which of these photo cleaners have an Android version?
Swipe44 has an Android app at com.ehmtech.photo. Cleanup: Phone Storage Cleaner has an Android app of the same name published by Deep Flow Apps. Swipewipe: Photo Cleaner has a Play listing, though Play does not name the publisher. Cleaner Kit and AI Cleaner have similarly named Play listings whose publisher we could not confirm. Cleaner Guru has a Play listing under a different developer name, and no Play listing was found for Cleaner Neat.
Cleaner Kit, AI Cleaner, Cleaner Guru and Cleaner Neat all end in Clean Up Storage. Which is which?
Cleaner Kit - Clean Up Storage is published by BP Mobile LLC and has been on the App Store since 2017. AI Cleaner: Clean Up Storage is published by GRIMLAX TRADE,S.L. since 2023. Cleaner Guru: Clean Up Storage is published by GM UniverseApps Limited since 2019. Cleaner Neat: Clean Up Storage is published by Smart Tool Studio, also since 2019, and its own description calls the product Phone Cleaner. Check the developer name on the store page before you install.
